SWFW Micro-Festival in Wauchope

Join the SWFW Micro-Festival for a vibrant day of culture, art, music, and community, proudly presented by Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance.

The SWFW Micro-Festival is set to bring our community alive with colour, culture, and connection. Presented by the Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance and proudly supported by Aboriginal Affairs NSW, this special event will transform Landrigan Park, Wauchope into a vibrant gathering place where tradition meets creativity, and community spirit takes centre stage.

“During my recent visit to Wauchope, where I met with the Local Aboriginal Land Council, the energy in the room was incredible. Everyone had ideas, visions, and a shared excitement about what this festival can mean for the community,” says SWFW Project Lead.

From those conversations – and with the guidance of our Micro-Festival Committee of Amos, Chris, Jaclyn and Janan – the day’s vision began to take shape. This is more than just an event. It’s a living, breathing celebration of culture, where ancient traditions meet contemporary creativity and where every laugh, every dance, and every story adds to the magic.

Picture the scene: the warm, earthy scent of the Smoking Ceremony rising into the morning air, the rhythmic pulse of dance groups moving in unison, the sparkle in a child’s eyes as they bounce on the jumping castle or print their first piece of lino art. The hum of the silent disco mingling with the buzz around the market stalls, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee drifting from the van, and the Elders Tent alive with conversation, warmth, and respect.

Behind the scenes, the festival is a true act of teamwork. The SWFW Program Team will curate the cultural program, organise site logistics, and coordinate food, entertainment, and stallholders, while the Local Aboriginal Land Council takes care of waste management, marquees, generators, and service providers. Together, we are creating an event that honours tradition, celebrates local talent, and delivers unforgettable experiences for everyone.

This is your invitation to be part of it – to stand on Country, share in the stories, and feel the heartbeat of the Mid North Coast in every performance, conversation, and smile.
