Janan stepped into the role of General Manager at SWFWAA in November 2024, bringing over two decades of expertise in the museum, cultural tourism, and visitor experience sectors.

For Janan, it’s about more than just achieving operational goals – it's about leaving a lasting impact. Whether it's revitalising a community’s cultural space or bringing people together through innovative programming, she is committed to helping organisations thrive and make meaningful connections.

Design Agency Manager

Ebony James Chow

National Aboriginal Design Agency

Ebony is the Manager at the National Aboriginal Design Agency (NADA), specialising in projects that integrate contemporary Aboriginal art with architecture and design. With experience in project management and architectural design, she has led community housing initiatives and training programs across mainland Australia and the Torres Strait.

At NADA, she collaborates with Aboriginal artists to bring culturally significant artwork into built environments. She also negotiates artwork licensing for major infrastructure projects, ensuring authenticity while working with corporate and government clients.

Natalie Angus

The Gallery

Natalie has a diploma of Business Operations and over 15 years of experience working in the retail sector both in Australia and overseas, primarily luxury and boutique businesses with a strong focus on design.

Her management and operations expertise led her to consulting and she has spent the last few years supporting emerging designers to create retail spaces and small businesses become more efficient.

Natalie is dedicated to empowering and supporting First Nations artists, designers, and makers from across the Saltwater Freshwater region and beyond through our gallery space, The Gallery.

Timothy Hoskins

Timothy is a proud Gumbaynggirr man who plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance and its two social enterprises, the National Aboriginal Design Agency and The Gallery. With a strong background in financial management and administration, he ensures the organisation’s financial sustainability and growth, helping to create opportunities for Aboriginal artists and communities.

Timothy joined the Saltwater Freshwater team in 2018, bringing with him over 12 years of experience as a Finance Officer with the Coffs Harbour & District Local Aboriginal Land Council. His deep understanding of financial processes, governance, and community-focused initiatives makes him a vital part of the team, contributing to the success of programs that celebrate and support Aboriginal art, culture, and enterprise.

Dallas Gittins

The Gallery

Dallas is a proud Gumbaynggirr and Dhungutti woman who brings years of experience in administration, education, and Gumbaynggirr language to Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance.

Passionate about language and culture, Dallas is excited to contribute to an Aboriginal arts organisation focused on creating opportunities and work for Aboriginal people through the sharing of art, culture, language, storytelling, design, and more. She runs The Gallery School Excursion Program, providing valuable educational experiences for students.

Dallas has been studying Gumbaynggirr language for over ten years and continues to work towards fluency, remaining deeply committed to preserving and promoting her language and heritage.

Senior First Nations Project Officer

Michelle Flanders

Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance

Michelle is a Gamilaroi/Gomeroi woman born and raised in Sydney. Michelle moved to the Mid North Coast of NSW in 1987 where she undertook adult education at TAFE completing her Tertiary Preparation Certificate (Year 12 equivalent), which then enabled Michelle Michelle to enter university and obtain a Degree in Applied Science – Coastal Management, completed it with Honors.

Michelle also has a Masters Degree in Aboriginal Education and worked for Southern Cross University for 10 years after completing her Masters as an ATAS tutor. Michelle worked as the Executive Assistant to the CEO at Galambila AMS for 10 years, followed by 5 years as the Cultural Heritage Coordinator at the Coffs Harbour Local Aboriginal Land Council where she had the pleasure of organizing a repatriation ceremony for a Gumbaynggirr ancestor.

Michelle now works for Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance working on various cultural and community projects.

HAMISH

First Nations Project Officer

Hamish Macdonald

Hamish Macdonald is a Gumbaynggirr man who has recently returned to Country, bringing a wealth of experience across multiple industries, including business management, creative industries, and community support. With expertise in project management, graphic design, and animation, he combines technical proficiency with leadership and teamwork to deliver meaningful outcomes.

His career spans roles in hospitality management, business ownership, and community services, where he has demonstrated adaptability, initiative, and a strong work ethic. Hamish has successfully managed teams, overseen operations, and developed creative projects, showcasing his ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution.

A skilled communicator and problem-solver, Hamish thrives in dynamic environments, fostering collaboration and building strong relationships. His technical expertise, including proficiency in Adobe Suite, video editing, and IT troubleshooting, allows him to deliver innovative solutions tailored to community needs.

Passionate about supporting First Nations initiatives, Hamish is committed to using his experience to drive cultural and community projects that create lasting impact. Now back on Gumbaynggirr Country, he looks forward to working alongside local communities, combining his diverse skill set with his deep cultural connection to deliver meaningful and sustainable change.

Admin Support | Trainee

Eden Hoskins

Eden Hoskins is a proud 17-year-old Gumbaynggirr young man who completed Year 10 at St John Paul College, Coffs Harbour, in 2024. Eden first joined Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance for a work experience placement, where he made such a strong impression that a position was created for him.  Now employed as a Trainee, Eden is completing a Certificate III in Business Administration through Aboriginal Employment Strategies Coffs Harbour (AES). This role provides a valuable opportunity for him to gain practical skills and experience in a professional environment while being supported by a culturally safe team.

Based in our Coffs Harbour office, Eden contributes to the smooth running of our daily operations. His responsibilities include answering phones, greeting visitors, managing emails, filing, scheduling meetings, and supporting project and event delivery. Eden is also learning to manage office systems and workflows, working alongside experienced staff.  Eden brings a positive attitude, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. His presence supports a welcoming and professional office culture and helps us deliver meaningful cultural and design-focused programs. Saltwater Freshwater is proud to support Eden in the early stages of what promises to be a bright and rewarding career.

Admin Support | Trainee

Sommer Hoskins

National Aboriginal Design Agency

Sommer Hoskins is a Gumbaynggirr woman currently working as an Admin Support Trainee at the National Aboriginal Design Agency (NADA), a social enterprise of the Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance. Based in Coffs Harbour, she is completing a Certificate III in Business Administration through Aboriginal Employment Strategies (AES), gaining hands-on experience in a culturally supportive environment.

Sommer brings a strong background in customer service, having worked at Oliver’s Real Food and The Gallery Take Away, where she developed her skills in communication, point-of-sale operations, and food handling. She also spent two years at Oz Group, focusing on quality control and workplace safety.

Her commitment to community is demonstrated through her volunteer work with National Parks and participation in the Women of the World Program, where she contributed to event coordination and public speaking. Sommer is known for her reliability, enthusiasm, and ability to thrive both independently and in team settings. Her interests in creative arts, travel, and animal care further reflect her well-rounded and compassionate nature.

With a strong work ethic and a passion for learning, Sommer is well-positioned to make meaningful contributions to the cultural and administrative initiatives of NADA and the broader Saltwater Freshwater community.

Darryll Lockwood

The Gallery

Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance

Darryll Lockwood is a Gumbaynggirr man committed to culture, community, and creating positive change. An experienced cultural educator and practitioner, he shares Indigenous knowledge through dance, storytelling, and workshops with respect and energy.
Over the past decade, Darryll has delivered programs across schools, festivals, and international events, including the Tribal Gathering in Panama, and has worked closely with youth through the Wajarr Ngarruu Dance Company since 2011. He continues to support cultural education initiatives across the Mid North Coast and beyond.

With qualifications in Civil Construction and Aviation (Drone Pilot) and certification as a cultural facilitator, Darryll brings expertise in Indigenous protocols, event delivery, and environmental sustainability. He is also an active volunteer with Yurruungga Aboriginal Corporation and a member of SEED, Australia’s first Indigenous youth climate network.

Darryll joined Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance on a short fixed-term contract as a Project Officer and now works as a casual staff member in The Gallery, continuing to inspire communities and promote cultural pride.

Georgia Elliott

The Gallery

Georgia Elliott is a Wiradjuri woman with a strong background in customer service, hospitality, and leadership. With years of frontline experience, she excels in fast-paced environments, combining attention to detail with a warm, respectful approach to engaging the public.

She holds multiple TAFE qualifications, including Hospitality, Beauty Services, Nail Technology, Specialist Makeup, and Companion Animals, reflecting her wide-ranging skills and strong work ethic. Currently, Georgia is pursuing a Bachelor of Science at Southern Cross University while balancing casual work and community involvement. Her leadership as volunteer President for AIME Coffs Harbour demonstrates her ability to mentor, coordinate teams, and drive meaningful outcomes.

Georgia brings her passion for art and culture to The Gallery. She helps visitors with purchases and shares insights about featured artists, celebrating the creativity and diversity of Aboriginal artistry. By combining her customer service expertise with cultural knowledge, she creates a welcoming space where locals and visitors can engage with and celebrate Indigenous creativity.

Georgia is proud to support First Nations artists and promote Aboriginal art and culture in a meaningful and respectful way.

Tony Halpin

Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance

Tony Halpin is a Biripi and Worimi man recently returned to Country after many years in Sydney. A highly experienced graphic designer, he has spent decades shaping visual identities across major magazine titles, progressing from designer to creative director.

Known for his sharp eye for imagery, typography, and layout, Tony combines storytelling with striking visuals to engage audiences and enhance brand presence.

Now back on Biripi Country, Tony brings his wealth of experience and creative vision, helping deliver visually compelling projects that celebrate Indigenous culture and push the boundaries of visual storytelling.

Jaqi Young

National Aboriginal Design Agency

Jacqueline (Jaqi) Young has over 35 years of experience in architecture, working on a wide range of residential and commercial projects across Sydney, Central Coast NSW, Cairns, and Port Douglas QLD. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Technology, Sydney, and is highly skilled in project management, problem-solving, organisation, client communication, and creative presentation.

As a contractor with the National Aboriginal Design Agency (NADA), a social enterprise of Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance, Jaqi applies her expertise to deliver projects that celebrate Indigenous culture, uphold cultural integrity, and push the boundaries of visual storytelling. Her contributions ensure NADA projects are executed with precision, creativity, and respect for cultural heritage.
