Step Into Culture: Youth Dance Workshop at Guulabaa Place of Koala

Young people are set to take centre stage at an inspiring Youth Dance Workshop at Guulabaa Place of Koala, Wauchope, on Tuesday, 9 September 2025.

This full-day celebration of culture, dance and community invites Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth from across the region to come together, learn traditional dance, and connect with their heritage in a vibrant and supportive environment.

The full-day workshop, presented by Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance and proudly funded by Create NSW, is open to Year 5 to Year 12 students, from across the Mid North Coast. Participants from the Gumbaynggirr, Dunghutti, Biripi/Birpai and Worimi Communities are especially encouraged to attend.

Held at Guulabaa Place of Koala, Wauchope NSW, the workshop will run from 10:00am to 3:00pm and will include cultural dance sessions, opportunities to connect with peers and community, and the potential to showcase dance skills in a live performance.

Workshop organisers said the program aims to inspire pride, confidence and cultural identity among young people.

“This workshop is about more than dance. It’s about giving our young people the space to connect with culture, strengthen identity, and feel proud of who they are. We want to celebrate the energy, talent and resilience of our youth and give them an opportunity to shine,” a Saltwater Freshwater spokesperson said.
