This introductory workshop provides participants with an opportunity to experience the creative process of designing and carving a pendant from specialist jeweller’s wax. Participants will learn the fundamentals of lost wax casting, explore carving and texturing techniques, and create a wax pendant suitable for professional casting.
Perfect for beginners, this workshop offers a taste of the skills and techniques explored in the full Level 1 course.

About the Facilitator – Kate Hunter
Kate Hunter grew up in Upper Orara, NSW, surrounded by the rhythms of nature and the practical creativity of farm life. Raised on a dairy farm, she learned early how to mend, make, and improvise — creating rafts for the river, handmade kites, and weavings from angora goat hair.
At 17, Kate moved to Adelaide to study a Bachelor of Design, where she discovered her passion for metals, jewellery making, and surface treatments. Much of her creative practice has been developed through years of self-directed experimentation, trial, and discovery.
Following graduation, Kate spent time working across South Australia — from cattle properties in the Clare Valley to jewellery workshops in the small town of Laura — all while sketching ideas, journaling, writing poetry, and drawing inspiration from landscape and sky.
Her workshops are grounded, thoughtful, and deeply connected to creative exploration, materiality, and making by hand.
