A creative exploration of fabric design inspired by cultural stories and symbols, guided by Aboriginal artists.
This is a two-day workshop funded by the Australian Government, through Indigenous Languages and Arts for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults, from the Saltwater Freshwater footprint (Corindi in the North to Karuah in the South), Gumbaynggirr, Dunghutti, Biripi / Birpai and Worimi communities.
This workshop will explore Aboriginal fabric design, using botanical pigments and lino printing techniques to express cultural stories through textiles. The workshop aims to encourage cultural expression, preserve traditional knowledge, and celebrate creativity.
The workshop will culminate in participants showcasing their fabric designs alongside their personal stories at The Gallery in 2026.
