Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance is excited to announce the continuation of funding from the Indigenous Languages and Arts Program, administered by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts.
This vital support ensures the continued delivery of our Saltwater Freshwater Arts and Cultural Program, which has been creating meaningful cultural experiences for Aboriginal communities across the Mid North Coast since 2021. The funding will allow us to expand on our work with local Aboriginal communities through creative, educational and community-based activities that celebrate and revitalise Aboriginal culture and language.

Our upcoming program will include:
- Cultural Arts Programs in Schools
- Two-day Cultural Workshops in community
- Public programs and exhibitions in The Gallery
- Cultural Exposure Trips connecting regional and urban experiences
The program aims to:
- Employ and empower local Aboriginal staff to lead culturally rich programming
- Deliver school-based and adult learning opportunities focused on cultural revitalisation
- Encourage community participation through public exhibitions and cultural events
- Amplify access and visibility via strategic marketing and digital engagement
- Build regional-to-urban connections that support cultural exchange and pride
- Uphold best-practice financial management and governance
“We are grateful for the continued partnership with the ILA Program, which enables us to foster cultural knowledge, artistic expression, and strong community engagement across our region,” said a spokesperson of Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance.
This ongoing support directly strengthens the cultural foundations of the Gumbaynggirr, Dunghutti, Biripi, and Worimi nations by ensuring intergenerational learning and participation remain at the heart of our work.
