The Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance announces that the Saltwater Freshwater Festival will not be held in 2025, as the organisation embarks on a transformative journey to reimagine the event for 2026.

Since its inception, the Saltwater Freshwater Festival has been a cornerstone in celebrating and sharing authentic Aboriginal living culture with the wider community. The festival has showcased local culture, skills, music, dance, art, lifestyle, and culinary talent, aiming to create a positive, inclusive family day for all communities to enjoy.
The decision to pause in 2025 allows the Alliance to implement significant changes that will enhance the festival experience. One of the most notable updates is the rescheduling of the festival to coincide with Australia Day in 2026, marking a return to its original timing. The location for the 2026 festival is yet to be decided, but the Alliance assures that it will continue to honour and celebrate the rich Aboriginal culture of the Mid North Coast.
“We’re shaking things up, and you won’t want to miss what’s next,” says the Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance. “Stay tuned for updates on our socials, and if you’re really keen, be the first to know by signing up for our swfwARTS e-newsletter.”
The Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance remains committed to its mission of strengthening culture, identity, and community across the Mid North Coast. Through dynamic programs, the Alliance brings people together, celebrates intergenerational knowledge, and supports Aboriginal artists to share their stories and skills with the world.
